Warning! This is an automated transcript of the show so there will be minor mistakes throughout!

Curtis Pope:

Fellas Real Estate Group show but a little different today because Well, I'm here as usual but Michelle is in band so she sent a different comments. We have our significant other Richard Cummins here and well I guess you're part of the Cummins Real Estate Group.

Richard Cummins:

I am but I should we should change the theme song to he's a real No. Yes, there's somewhere girls go

Curtis Pope:

she's somewhere she is somewhere. Yeah, that's true. She's in bounce she's in Bath

Richard Cummins:

and I and I'm here to, to fill in and take the reins and finally set the record straight on a few things, you know, shore up some info. Well,

Curtis Pope:

the running joke is I always say you need new guitar.

Richard Cummins:

It's true. I mean, why didn't you say it more before Christmas?

Curtis Pope:

I did. Oh, several times. I'm like, you know, while she was she was a little peeved when he bought the new Paisley guitar last year.

Richard Cummins:

Well, yes. Well, she had the pink Paisley and I bought the blue flower. Yeah, it was you can play a pink Paisley. Well, James Burton did. Yeah, exactly.

Curtis Pope:

Yeah. Yeah. I mean, and that was what she kept saying we have a pink Paisley telly.

Richard Cummins:

Yes. And then the blue flower. I mean, the two just go hand in hand. And the brother and sister and his and hers too, right? Yes, I did get it and it wasn't an occasion. Like it wasn't. It was just I just bought a guitar. Yeah. Well, I think that's

Curtis Pope:

guitar players like that. My kid is like nine guitars. He just started playing like three four years ago.

Richard Cummins:

Well, so if you times that by the next three, four years, and then you compound that. Yeah. Carry the to add 3042 metric electric guitar.

Curtis Pope:

Yeah. Well, he's he's debating about buying a bass next. Yeah. And he knows what he wants. Well, then

Richard Cummins:

you'll finally get work. Yeah.

Curtis Pope:

Yeah, go he keeps thinking I doubt it. I think I want the McCartney bass. I think I want. So that's what he's looking at

Richard Cummins:

La McQuaid is finally carrying Hoffner now. Well, I

Curtis Pope:

think he was looking at the the Epiphone version, which is a lot cheaper.

Richard Cummins:

Yes. That's I just looked at that as their yesterday and for starting at $4,500. For the Hofner. Actual German Hofner.

Curtis Pope:

Yeah. Make sense? So wow, that's because Paul has that kind of money. Maybe next Christmas. Maybe you can get a couple of Christmas presents in a row. Just you know, for one present. Yeah. I'll talk to Michelle

Richard Cummins:

for just all Christmas or all Christmases. Christmas is finished, forever unwrapped, that it's done.

Curtis Pope:

Okay, so now we have another voice on the air your T should probably introduce your co conspirator. Yes. So

Richard Cummins:

this is James Michelle. Folks, and he is here with stories and insights.

James:

Absolute stats, stats yet.

Curtis Pope:

Oh, Michelle doesn't want you messing with their stats show know that she gets so excited about the stats show. Yes, she does.

James:

I've heard it. We know numbers used or killed during this performance.

Curtis Pope:

But we get a lot of musicians in one room. There should be no,

Richard Cummins:

no I to. I can't spell a card.

Curtis Pope:

So that's one of my favorite ring goes ever knows it. Yes. I can't spell

Richard Cummins:

and it's obscure. It's it's from some game show. System.

James:

Just because I are a musician don't mean I can spell it.

Curtis Pope:

Well, James, I understand that you have worked with Michelle in a professional manner.

James:

Yeah. I mean, we, she has. Well, I mean, I wasn't that professional, but she certainly we, we had to sell a house and try to find a new one. And yeah, I mean, it was Who Who do we use? Let's try, Michelle. And boy, yeah, worked out pretty good. I gotta tell you. We literally, we were offered a job to go to California recently. And one of the big decisions was the fact that we don't want to leave this house ever. Yeah. And so that's the kind of, you know, that's the kind of testament like, you know, you try to do that yourself. It's kind of hard, right? Well, the

Curtis Pope:

amazing thing I found because I went through the same process as you exactly I sold a house and we bought a house with Michelle was is when you get those emails, if you got new houses on the website to go look at Yeah, and it's amazing how many places you can find that fit the criteria you're looking for. Yeah,

James:

it's amazing that you can you can you can have all these fun things that you like, like doing in your life. But the minute that email comes in, he's like, there's nothing more fun than looking through those. Those 20 houses and you're like you're imagining yourself in every it's like having a new Playhouse. Every 10 minutes. You're like, oh, oh, that one's good. I can see where I'm gonna put my recording studio and I'm gonna see where I put this in that right and

Richard Cummins:

say, cuz Amanda's got an art studio. Yeah.

James:

A painting studio that was a that was we needed a place for her to paint. You've got a recording studio and we're homeschoolers. So we needed a place we needed a place to home school and we were living in this tiny kind of like a converted mobile. And like it was literally falling apart in front of me the last two years, things would break and I would just say, I don't care. Like there was a hole in the floor and I went in I literally nailed a board in inspite I just like I nailed the board in just so nobody would fall through. And, and she's

Richard Cummins:

still sold that home. She you know,

James:

the fantastic part about it is we're like, yeah, Michelle, this is what we want to do. And I'm thinking oh, no, like this is Michelle. No, you know, poor and poor Michelle has to do something with this like you know that the seeing like putting makeup on a pig or lipstick on a pig this thing? I didn't think that it even have lips to put lipstick on. This thing was Sami wasn't it was nasty. Honestly, we live in a terrible place. It because we knew we knew we wanted to get rid of it. It was we're gonna develop there at some point. Yeah, she brought in. When she first she came around. She says, oh, yeah, this is fine. This is great. Like, this is a typical Michelle. Okay, yeah, yeah, no problem. We got this and I'm like, okay, so she sends in one of her stages. And this was the thing that I've never experienced during a house purchase or sale, was the stager came in and said You no longer live here. Someone else someone a magical family lives here. Get rid of that. Get rid of that. Get rid of your your kids photos, get rid of that clear this move this ticket, and we were offended. And then we went, Okay. And gosh, I'm so glad. Like when we got the pictures back. After this stager told us what to do where to go. It was it was done. Like the team she has. I looked at those pictures and I went I want that house now he picked it I don't want to live Yeah, I didn't recognize it. I was like, Oh, this is one of the ones I want to live in them. My my fairy tale woodworking shop or whatever, anyway. And then just like the the house showed up in every place I could think of I'm like, oh, so someone called me it's like, Oh, your house showed up on some TV thing or something. And I'm like, what? Oh, your house is on this thing. And I keep keep getting pictures of or people texting me saying oh, your your house is showing up in this thing. And I'm the kind of marketing I don't know if you can even pay for really? Oh, he paid Yes.

Curtis Pope:

No, I know what you're saying. The same with us from the stager came in and, and me and my wife are prepared for it. But my teenage kids weren't so prepared for it. What do you mean, I gotta keep my room clean? What do you mean, I gotta take all this stuff down? What do you mean, I gotta do this, you know, like, they were, you know, they were not on board. But then once Exactly. Once the pictures come in, and you see those you're going? That's where house can look like yeah,

James:

I want a house that looks just like that. Mike, my kids loved it. Because they were like, get rid of all these toys. And all these stuff isn't like it's like, what are we gonna do? Well, you can play on video games, like the first time in their lives are like really? Like carte blanche. Yeah.

Curtis Pope:

Ya know, and it's amazing. And you get you get the drone video and you get all this you're going. I get a drone video. Really? What's kind of cool.

James:

Yeah, exactly. And so that thing I didn't think it could sell. And it did it sold pretty quickly. That's, you know, I was like I was I wasn't prepared, because we didn't we hadn't had we hadn't found a house yet. You know, so we started sort of looking. And then the panic sets in because we didn't have a place we had a house picked out the perfect house for us. Which, you know, folks, if you're if you haven't done this before, the perfect house is the one you actually buy, not the one. It's true. It's true, because we thought this one was going to solve all of our problems. And it fell through and we were heartbroken. But Michelle's like, no, no, don't don't, you know, don't be disheartened. We'll look at some some of these. And she brought us around to a whole bunch of really cool places. And Rich was there too. And we actually had a fantastic time. And yeah, she brought us to this place. And, you know, it was a, it had a unfinished basement, which was perfect for me because I wanted to I had a vision of the studio I wanted to build. But I've sat there and I'm like, This is my house. This is the place I'm going to live in and like it was like we were guided right there. And I was like, How did you know? How do you like she basically, she set up an interview where she said what do you need? What are the what are your needs? What do you what do you got to have in your house? And you know, we said okay, well we'll just tell you because we're not going to hold back. This is what we want and this is what we want to pay and actually we paid a heck of a lot less, maybe 100,000 less than then asking price at the time. I don't know why because it's in a wonderful neighborhood and great house great negotiating.

Richard Cummins:

That it's gotta be Well, I remember you said something along the lines of the silently guiding you're being guided. Yeah, it wasn't. Yeah.

James:

Yeah. It was never. She was never saying, Guys, you have to have this like pushing, pushing, pushing. It was always like, you know, whatever's best for you guys. whatever's best for your family,

Richard Cummins:

but she knew your list. And she knew if it was or wasn't on the list, and she just sort of well, I remember. What was the Yeah, but anyway, just when you when you knew when you the house, your favorite house? Is this usually this one after your favorite house?

James:

Oh, yeah, maybe there's some

Curtis Pope:

truth to that, because I put a bid on another place before we got our place. I remember Michelle goes, well, they have 23 bids on this house, like 23 singles, they have 23 they have to go through. And we weren't far off on the price. But we were still you know, like seven eight grand below what they took. But yeah, can you imagine having that many offers to go through like for a real estate? I know Michelle has had to do that. But as as, as the people selling the house and the real 23 Like, I know you can go no, this is off. You know, some you can just write off too low or whatever. But still, that's a lot of of offers on a home and then when we found our place now we're in and Benjamin for two years, it was like Yeah, like that was going to put you Tuesday I went to and Michelle can be with you because me and my wife would look at the collaborations for Michelle Vincennes. And then we would go and look at news, you know, realtor.ca or whatever we'd look through there. And then like my wife and we both on our lunch break find this house and as I'm sending Michelle about it pops up on her collaboration center. So we found it Michelle found all at the same time. Yeah, for and, and lo and behold, it had everything we wanted. And a hot tub, which wasn't on our list

James:

is ours as well. We did not want a hot tub and this thing. We go oh, it has a hot tub. Oh, well, whatever. We'll just deal with it. And now we literally spent like probably six days a week in the hot tub.

Curtis Pope:

Straight Yeah. My wasted it pretty much every night and I'm not an every night but my wife is an average

James:

same as same as us. Yeah, absolutely.

Curtis Pope:

It's healthy. Yeah. So except now I'm a pool guy. And I don't know anything about the I'm still figuring these chemicals out. Do you have a pool too? Well, it's a Swim Spa. So it's kind of so it's a big hot tub. Really big hot tub. Yeah. So I'm out there going. Alright, so I'm looking at the test going it needs what? I think that's this one.

Unknown:

It took a while but enough to go out. Today. Yep. Yeah,

Curtis Pope:

I have no idea what I'm doing all alchemy and so far it's worked. Yes. And alkaline. Alkaline. Yeah, hold on it. And sometimes alcohol

James:

and an elder to walk by.

Curtis Pope:

We've got deer in our back. Okay, so not an elk yet. Okay. Hey, that's I mean, close to nature. Yeah. raccoons and deer. That's what we've had so far.

Richard Cummins:

How are they cooked for dinner?

Curtis Pope:

They're just too fast for me. Yeah. Yeah. Well, you know, what was that we should take a quick break. And then we'll come back and we'll see what other kinds of chaos we can get up to. And

Richard Cummins:

stay tuned because we're going to set straight a story on classic country artists in the interaction. And Michelle said last week after the break, said the story. She

Curtis Pope:

screwed something up. Well, we'll see. All right, I can't wait. All right, we are back with segment number two of the Cummins Real Estate Group show with Richard Cummins, not Michelle Cummins. Richard Cummins. Yeah. the namesake of the show. Really?

Richard Cummins:

Yeah. The patriarch the what would you call the name? The

James:

surname the surname? Yes. Or

Curtis Pope:

it's your your family name? her married name. So I guess you have more ownership? Yeah. So

Richard Cummins:

if we went like the jerk with Steve Martin or her Armenian dad's name would be the heart TuneIn That's right.

James:

There are two onions gas station someone hates

Curtis Pope:

why is it that the first scene we go to? It's the boy that in the hitchhiking and you only use the end of the fence? That's my other favorite.

Richard Cummins:

The bus ride from Vancouver. That's right.

Curtis Pope:

Well, we are back with segment two. You know, I think we're not going to be maybe as realistic heavy on this segment because we did talk about Michelle how and how she works as a realtor. And you know why she's at the top of her game and top of her class because we've explained that because it's some, it's amazing what she can do. And like you said, no pressure, right?

James:

Yeah, I never felt that was the one time she was like, here's a house I think you and your family will like, and we're like, we don't like this house. Well, let's just try it. In that in that gentle and amazing way she does it. Let's just Let's just have a look. You know, there's, there's nothing you can lose by ever. Okay. And when we said we didn't like it, she was like, okay, cool. Yeah, I like what you saw. But but she like, obviously, she's an expert. So, and I don't I know nothing. Like if you want to, you know, learn about something I like if you want to play accordion.

Curtis Pope:

Well, I think that's part of the process, though for too, because I know that she pretty much sent us to a place that she knew we wouldn't like, but she wanted to make sure that you know, she was right, that this wasn't the style or whatever. So we went to like three or four open houses one day. And the wonder just like, No, God, no, no, that's not the place.

James:

I think it's like a doctor, a doctor will look at you. And they'll be like, they have no idea what's wrong with you. So they'll they'll prescribe something that they know will have a certain effect, or it won't, based on based on a flowchart. And I'm sure it's like that, like we don't we mean, you don't know, real estate, like I don't like I don't study it. I don't know anything about it. But there's got to be a flow to how you show these things. It's not just willy nilly. Let's get as many houses in front of these people as you can like attrition, right? Just force all the houses you'll pick one will go to the next person. No, it all it felt like there was a there was an actual not scientific but like a real process or a flowchart to it. So that okay, well, they liked this, but they don't like this. They like this, but they don't like this and it because as we went, it seemed like the offerings were getting more close to what we want wanted. And they're more specific. Yeah. And we finally found that place that that was like, This is my house, then that's when she really went to work in the because I'm a salesperson as well, I don't sell houses, but

Richard Cummins:

it will take lasers if you need a laser

James:

when she went to work.

Curtis Pope:

You can see the Cummins group sign in the back that, you know, that's what

Richard Cummins:

Jim made. That's right. Missing Cummins Real Estate Group.

Curtis Pope:

It's the GRU

James:

uncle says, Yeah. But yeah, she, she, that's when the kind of work that I recognize, really sparked up and saying, Okay, now I'm going to go to bat with you and offer this. Well, we can offer that. She's like, Yeah, watch me in that in that totally innocent, like, like, way, she I think sometimes it's, you're not as innocent as you look, she went up there and just knocked it out of the park. And we were like, wow, that's, that was 100,000 Less than, than they were asking 100 And it was pre COVID market. So it wasn't as crazy as it is now, but still was a lot less than they were asking was it 2018 2019? Yeah, things were still you know? Yeah. And like COVID happened, like 20 minutes after we.

Curtis Pope:

And then we bought our house during COVID the middle of it. Sorry. Well, that was the amazing, you know, actually meeting my wife. That was the best thing we ever did. Because, you know, it kept us busy. It kept you have to, you know, get everything packed, unpacked redecorate a lot, it was you know, took it kept us busy for months. Yeah, so it wasn't so bad. But now Richard, if you were selling the houses, it would be a laundry list of houses.

Richard Cummins:

And each one have a recording studio. So you don't need a recording studio. But we're gonna just let's look at this one.

Curtis Pope:

Let's look at there's there's room for recording studio,

Richard Cummins:

but there's something we said about the tangibility of those things. So there's one thing singing on paper. And what a lot of what you're talking about, I know, you know, just from seeing her do it so often. It's sometimes you got to look at, at the one to know, because you got if you're hemming and hawing like you could you could spend twice as long looking on paper but five minutes tangibly is gives you the best decision making Yeah, and she'll make the effort to go and do that. Take the time because it won't be easy to say you know, I found you know, one. Yeah, okay to know but finding you the ones to give you that broad spectrum of so you can hone in your own expectations and what you're doing well, we

Curtis Pope:

showed up to our place and Michelle was you know, we had a you know, they were doing they weren't doing open house rooms private showings ever. So, we we show up at like seven o'clock at night and Michelle's like literally coming down the stairs as we get to the door, and she's got like the Cheshire Cat grin on her face. She just knows that this is the place like she could tell. And and she just following us around again with a smile on her face the whole time. And we're like, yeah, we we got to make an offer on this place. And it was just and that was the one Yeah, it just checked off. You know, it was pretty much fully renovated. Nice kitchen You know lots of room for the room for a music room that me and my kid are gonna still eventually put together you know over the garage and a garage which still has never had a car in it

Richard Cummins:

working on what's your rental on that?

Curtis Pope:

You're gonna buy another one.

Richard Cummins:

I've got too many to go to come home still.

Curtis Pope:

You got the you still have the El Camino over? Yes, I

Richard Cummins:

do. It's admission by the Yeah, it's from Supernatural 454 You know that you put it of course you put that El Camino there's no wait in the back.

Curtis Pope:

No, yeah, you spend the time. Do not go anywhere. How

James:

to Drink tires in the clouds.

Richard Cummins:

That's right. Eat it Tesla.

Curtis Pope:

Yeah, I can just afford 54 and an El Camino.

Richard Cummins:

I know who to thunk. But it's true. I supernational cars coming. You know, that's why we did change the song and four car garage and we're still building on eight car

Curtis Pope:

12 cars. Yeah, you're gonna need a few more. I mean, there's a lot of few movie cars out there. You haven't got yet. That's right. You could use an 18 van.

Richard Cummins:

I know. There's two NBC three. Actually, NBC I ran.

Curtis Pope:

It wasn't like a Walmart parking lot in Surrey one day and I'm like, just at event. Yeah, just right on my kids go and that's kind of cool. What isn't that like, oh,

Richard Cummins:

you know, you've dug earlier in the tree? No, I was actually down on set when they're filming starts getting hacked. Oh, cool. So I got to do all this stuff to Reno's and that would be a nice one. That would be

Curtis Pope:

a good one to have. Yeah,

James:

that was iconic cars, the stripe tomato. Rich Rich has a lot of really cool iconic cars.

Richard Cummins:

Well speak speaking out. Okay, so So Michelle, we promise we're gonna get to the truth of this story.

Curtis Pope:

Your story will put you're generally in a ditch or something in the snow or something. Yeah, so

Richard Cummins:

So Jim here, he's done many things, but with his laser and Trotec lasers and everything that he does, if you need a laser, and if you're an Etsy mom, or

Curtis Pope:

if not laser hair removal, let's make sure that

Richard Cummins:

we cut I need Lee's laser hair. You know, they say George Clooney has a preceding hairline. He's just that.

Curtis Pope:

Because they're just getting thicker. forces his hair

Richard Cummins:

forward. But yeah, so Jim helped me with him. It was my first generally it was a 68. And he you helped cut all the the graphics and everything for it, which is fantastic. I was thrilled. We were both working at the time at water parents simple, which was or Kelly was just picking Culligan water. We were the Culligan man with a 50 pound bottles and carry four at once. Yeah, three flights of stairs.

Curtis Pope:

And now both your backs are wrecked and both the backs

Richard Cummins:

and the day you're just exhausted. And remember that was during the other pandemic that was during the y2k? Oh, yeah. So everyone was like, we need 30

Curtis Pope:

bottles of water, like because everything is going to crash at midnight.

Richard Cummins:

And the elevators broken, by the way, of course. So I'm exhausted. I'm coming home one night, and the number one is it's pouring rain and it's just clogged. I'm like, I'm gonna go home through Fort Langley. So Derby reach very beautiful areas. And that's fort Langley. And there's all those nice homes up on the driveways that go open over the hill. So behind that is all these beautiful homes on the Fraser River. And I'm taking the derby reach. And luckily, this is before they put that that big fence in there now. Yeah, although it's like Park stakes, like four by four dimensional I would have wrecked the wreck the car a little bit. So um, so it's all beautiful. It's pouring rain, I'm probably there's probably a lot of exhaust leak coming through the trunk. And I'm just getting tired and tired of going around the corner. And it's just that beautiful moment. And you realize your eyes are closed. And I opened my eyes and I'm going right if you drive Derby reached, there's this really sharp corner. And I'm going right into that. I'm like, and I yanked this the wheel and I hit the gas. And of course I go into a full 360 Because I'm trying to not go into it

James:

right as a stunt driver. You know what it needs anyway? Well,

Richard Cummins:

no, I don't think at this point. Well,

Curtis Pope:

it's on my resume. 360 might not have been the best way out of this

Richard Cummins:

was pouring rain and it was just so slick. And as I went around, poof. I'm perfectly I guess if this is gonna be on video, you can see I'm perfectly so my rear tires are off the road now. I'm like in reverse, and nothing's happening. All right. So I'm waiting around people coming by holiday love. It seems like it's a show you got the horn. I'm like,

Curtis Pope:

Yeah, help me out here.

Richard Cummins:

Can you sit on and this truck comes along. So I'm there for a while on this truck comes along. This guy stops he's just shaking his head at me. And he gets out. I know this guy. I swear I know this guy. And he comes on. He's got a strap and he's like, and he's just you couldn't be more disappointed. He's shaking his head. And he has this yellow strap like a toe strap thing. So

James:

he wasn't like a proper tow truck driver. It

Richard Cummins:

was just a truck. Dude with it with a Dodge Ram. I think it was like a and like a newer one was nice. In those days had that semi front end kind of deal. And hooks it to the back bumper. I mean yanks the thing. It was a truck I'm just sort of watching everything. He's not even really talking to me. And he turns out he was asked this. He was a, you got to show respect for the general and in a way to treat the general like, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Like, hey, hey, you know what? He's getting back in the truck. And hey, can I ask you questions like, Does anyone ever tell you you look like Kris Kristofferson? He was only every damn day in my life. And he slams the door and he goes, I'm like, I watched him go nine years later, I told the story to everyone. And they're like, Yeah, I'm like, No, I swear. That's what he said. I don't know. Maybe it's just, maybe people do tell him your damn David's life. It's because he does. Years later, Michelle was looking for a home for someone. And she's like, got all those nice homes that are there. And one of the titles was Kris Kristofferson. Yeah. And at the time he was filming blade while she was or the series or the okay, because he's on the series here. Yeah. So you must have had a home while he was here. Why, what better place to interview Yeah, exactly.

Curtis Pope:

It'd be a great spot for Slovenia. Looks like Chad Kroeger has his place out this way too. Right. Nice little spot to for celebrities to go because it can probably be left alone pretty much

Richard Cummins:

on it back to

Curtis Pope:

him and he got it back. Yeah.

Richard Cummins:

That's a Chris if you're if you're listening. Was that you? Thanks.

Curtis Pope:

Thanks for calling. Yeah, call me. Thanks for the tow

Richard Cummins:

I've got a demo.

Curtis Pope:

I've got some songs in somebody's hands here and well, you got guitars here, don't you? We do we do. Well, why don't you grab because I know you were thinking you were threatening to do a song. It is a country station. Yeah. Last time I checked it was in the title and everything. 107 point? Well, country one Oh 7.1 Yeah, country.

Richard Cummins:

Isn't that the Starship Enterprise? Sure. No. 17011701 I just

Curtis Pope:

know you guys aren't really nerding even I don't know that. I'm more of a Star Wars geek though.

Richard Cummins:

I like to start Pandora.

Curtis Pope:

I haven't yet.

Richard Cummins:

I just did the first episode. Yeah, I

Curtis Pope:

have not yet. I've heard great things about it. Jim says great things. But I you know, I was a big fan of, of both. The book of Boba Fett and Mandalorian I love and yeah, season three is coming this year. I guess. So.
